This Is Your Rise: Reclaiming Your Power and Rewriting Your Reality (Ep. 10)
When life hits you with wave after wave — illness, heartbreak, money stress, family chaos, or just the heaviness of the world — it’s easy to feel like you’ve lost your power. In this raw, heart-led episode, Akashic Light Healer and award-winning corporate wellness executive Nicole Mixdorf shares what it really means to rise and reclaim your power over your lived experience.
Nicole walks you through the difference between letting life happen to you versus allowing it to happen for you, and how shifting your inner frequency literally rearranges your outer reality. She shares a pivotal story from her twenties, traveling alone in a foreign country, that anchored in the knowing: If I can do this, I can do anything.
You’ll learn how to drop the wall of resistance, surrender to what is, forgive yourself and others, and become the version of you who already has the life you desire — before it shows up in your physical reality.
In this episode, we explore:
- How to see your hardest challenges as blessings in disguise
- Why surrendering to “what is” is the doorway to peace
- The simple morning questions that help you choose your energy each day
- The energetic “life hack” of tuning your inner frequency first
- How forgiveness frees you to step into your next-level self
- What it really looks like to declare, “I’m DONE,” and RISE
If you’ve been feeling knocked down by life or like you’ve given your power away to other people, let this episode be your reminder: you can rise, you can rewrite your reality, and you are far more powerful than you’ve been taught to believe.

Welcome back, beautiful soul. This is Nicole Mixdorf, your host. I'm an Akashic Light Healer and an award-winning corporate wellness executive, and today we’re diving into the rise — and how to reclaim your power when you’ve either lost it or given it away.
The truth is, we all go through challenging times in our lives. I’ve certainly been through many of them, which I call hurricanes or tornadoes or big storms that blow into life. You’ve probably had your own seasons where it feels like when it rains, it pours. One thing goes wrong, then another thing goes wrong, and then another. After a while you almost start expecting things to go wrong — and that expectation becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Because you get what you expect. When you’re expecting “another thing, and another thing,” life will keep presenting you with exactly that.
That’s why it’s more important than ever to gain the skills to shift the energy of your life, so that you can navigate your way through the storm and come out the other side… feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin again, basking in the beauty of the rainbow that appears because you made it through.
The rainbow always shows up at the end of a storm. It brings the gifts we’re meant to have. So often in life we look backward, in hindsight, at a difficult time we went through and finally see the reason why.
“Ahh… now I get it. That makes sense. If this thing hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t have made it here.”
The most resilient people understand a powerful truth: every single challenge carries a gift. There’s always something for you to learn, a way for you to grow, a way for you to become better for having gone through what you went through.
A big part of this is your mindset. When you’re in the thick of it and something heavy is happening in your life — an illness, a relationship falling apart, a financial crisis, family challenges, or even just the political toxicity in the world — it can really throw you for a loop.
When something is happening that we don’t like, we tend to throw up a huge wall of resistance. We think:
“I hate this. I don’t like this. I don’t want this.”
And we waste so much of our mental energy fighting what is. We resist reality.
But the truth is: the moment you surrender to what is, you experience peace.
You don’t have to like the situation in front of you. It’s okay to hate the situation in front of you. You simply have to accept that this is what you’re dealing with right now.
The moment you accept it and say, “Okay. I don’t like this, but I accept that this is my reality right now. This is what I have to deal with. I’m going to surrender to it,” that wall of resistance drops. Instead of fighting, you’re accepting that this is what’s going on.
And that acceptance opens space in your mind to receive greater inspiration and creativity — the ideas and solutions that allow you to move forward in a beautiful way.
So a big piece of reclaiming your power is learning how to accept what’s in front of you, and then opening yourself up to receive the right guidance so you can navigate your way through it.
A lot of people lean into their faith here, and I do that all the time. I have such a deep, profound connection to my Creator, to my Source, to my higher self, to my own soul. Being an Akashic healer and working in the 12th dimension, being able to access the wisdom of the soul, has been one of the most profound experiences of my life.
I can ask my higher self:
- What is the message of this challenge?
- Why is this showing up?
- What is the message of this timing?
Because timing isn’t random. None of it is random. The challenge you’re dealing with is not random. It showed up for a reason.
Usually that reason is that your soul wanted you to experience something, because you’re meant to overcome it. You’re meant to learn. You’re meant to grow. You’re meant to evolve as a result of it.
And the person you become on the other side of it? That is the gift.
When you begin to see your challenges as blessings in disguise, that’s one of the ways you start reclaiming your power over your life.
Because when you’re in difficulty and you succumb to it, when you allow that challenge to drag you down into the depths of despair where you become a victim and you ask, “Why me?” — that’s the moment you’ve given away your power. Life is now happening to you instead of for you.
But life happens for us. Our lives are the culmination of every thought, experience, and behavior we have ever had.
We create the lives we live in.
If you’re not happy with the life you have on the outside, that is simply a reflection of how you’re feeling on the inside — especially around how worthy you feel of your goals and dreams. If you don’t feel worthy of them, if you don’t feel you deserve them, there’s no way you’ll ever fully attain them.
Our external world is a reflection of our internal world. So if we can become the masters of our inner world — if we can reclaim power over our mind, our mindset, how we choose to see the world, how we choose to be, how we choose to feel — that changes the game.
One of my spiritual teachers, Gabrielle Bernstein, shared four questions to ask yourself every morning when you wake up:
- What version of myself do I want to be today?
- How do I want to feel today?
- What do I want to give today?
- What do I want to receive today?
Those questions are powerful because they remind us that we have the power to choose.
Normally, we let external circumstances dictate how we feel. I could allow not feeling well or having old symptoms show up again to dictate my emotional state. Or I can look at those symptoms and say, “Okay, this sucks… but am I going to let this steal my joy? Am I going to let it define who I am? Am I going to let it stop me from doing what I’m here to do?”
Absolutely not.
I never allow anything to get in the way of what I want to accomplish, because I’m so intentional about what I’m doing in my life. I know who I am. I know what I’m here for. I know what I want.
And when you’re aligned with those things, life feels like it’s pulling you forward. You know you’re on the right path. It’s beautiful what comes. Yes, there are roadblocks. Yes, there are curveballs. Yes, life is going to throw things your way, because that’s what life does. It’s not smooth sailing every day — and honestly, if it were, you’d probably get bored eventually.
You can’t have the light without the dark. We have to navigate both.
When you go through the difficult times and make it out the other side, it allows you to enjoy the beautiful, wonderful moments even more.
So if you’ve given your power away — to life, to other people, to circumstances — this is your moment to reclaim your power over your lived experience. This is your moment to rise.
It doesn’t matter what has happened to you up until this point. You can do anything. You really can.
I was very lucky to have a moment early in my life where I realized this. When I was 22 years old, I did a study abroad program in Spain. I added an extra year to my schooling to earn a Spanish degree, and it was the most amazing experience.
Between the two semesters, I did a lot of backpacking around Europe. I had people meeting up with me along the way — except for one particular week when I had nobody to travel with. I was a little nervous about traveling alone. I’d never done that before.
I found myself in the south of France with some friends over the Christmas holiday, and I decided that for this one week alone I would go to Nice, France. I had never been there. I didn’t speak the language. I didn’t know where I was going to stay. This was before smartphones. I’m totally dating myself here!
But I decided to try it. I was honestly scared out of my mind to travel alone as a 22-year-old woman to a country where I didn’t speak the language, didn’t know anyone, and had no plan.
I took the train, arrived in Nice, and wandered around until I saw some other travelers with backpacks. I started talking to them and they told me about a little hostel where they were staying. So I checked into the same hostel.
I met a few cool people and we explored the town together. I saw everything there was to see in Nice. It was so beautiful. We went to museums and down to the beach. Even though it was winter and cold, they had a big open-air ice skating rink by the water. I’ll never forget standing there watching all these kids skating and having so much fun.
I thought, I want to do that too. I couldn’t even remember the last time I’d skated, but I decided to go. I was out there with all the kids, laughing and giggling, skating around, feeling the fresh, cool air on my face in this gorgeous place.
I met a new friend, and together we took a day trip to Monte Carlo. We visited the beautiful casinos, went shopping, and had so much fun.
On the train ride back to Spain, I sat by the window watching the French countryside roll past and had this thought:
“Wow. If I can go to a foreign country where I don’t speak the language, all by myself, not knowing anyone, not even knowing where I’d stay — and not only manage to get out in one piece, but also have the most incredible experience — if I can do that, I can do anything.”
That realization shot me up onto a cloud nine that I have never fully come down from. From the time I was 22, I have known deep in my bones that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. That gave me an inner power to have courage, to take action, to say yes even when it didn’t logically make sense — simply because it felt right and aligned.
That’s the power I want to give you today.
I want you to know that you can do anything in your life. You can accomplish anything. If there’s a desire on your heart — something you deeply want — it’s there for a reason. It’s not random. It’s meant for you.
So say yes. Take action. Take the first step.
You don’t need to see the entire path. The “how” is not your job. That part belongs to your Creator. Your job is to hold the vision of what you want and the faith that it’s already yours — and then say yes to the inspiration that flows in. Take the first step.
When you take that first step, you will be rewarded, often almost instantly. Then you stay open to receive the next step, and you take that one. That’s how the path reveals itself.
There are times in life when we do need a detailed strategic plan — and as a business owner, I absolutely believe in planning. Business planning, life planning, being intentional about what you’re creating. There are seasons where you need every detail mapped out.
And there are other times when you simply don’t. You don’t need to know every step. You just need to start.
The moment you make a declaration, the moment you say “yes,” the outside world starts to rearrange itself to support you.
Remember: your external world is a reflection of your internal state.
Everything is energy. Everything is frequency. If you break anything down far enough — to atoms and beyond — you find that everything is just energy vibrating. Everything is vibration.
Think of frequency like a radio station. Whatever frequency you’re tuned into on the inside will determine what you see on the outside. Your external reality reflects your internal broadcast.
If you don’t like what you see on the outside, you shift it by changing your frequency on the inside. You change the station.
When you shift your inner frequency, everything around you starts to rearrange itself to match it.
So if you’ve given your power away — maybe someone else is holding a lot over you, or you’re always putting everyone else first and yourself last, or you’ve just been knocked down by wave after wave — and you’re feeling low right now, I want to be your lifeline.
Let this be the moment you reclaim your power over your lived experience.
It starts with making the declaration that you are done with what has been happening up until now. You’re done with that version of yourself, done with that situation, done with that pattern.
When you make a declaration to the Universe that you are done, that’s powerful. It creates a shockwave through your energy field that says, “I’m done with this. I’m moving forward.”
The next step is forgiveness, because forgiveness is what truly sets you free.
Forgiveness is the decision that you no longer need to carry the burden. All the guilt, shame, pain, sadness, trauma — you’ve suffered enough. You’ve been through enough. You do not need to carry it anymore. It is safe to put it down.
You put it down by forgiving yourself. By forgiving everyone else. By forgiving the situation. By wishing peace and love to all others and to yourself.
When you do that — forgiving everyone and everything across all timelines — you set yourself free. That’s how you put the burden down.
And from there, you get to manifest what you want in your life. You get to decide how you’re going to feel today. You get to decide how you’re going to show up. It’s up to you. You have the power.
Every single day, you make a million little decisions. You decide what time to wake up — or whether to ignore the alarm. Even with kids who need me early in the morning, I still have a choice. I choose to get up and be there for them, but it’s still a choice.
You decide what to eat (or not eat) for breakfast. You decide what to wear. You decide whether you’ll do the thing you said you would do — or not.
We make choices all day long. We are literally creating our life with every decision.
So if you feel like you don’t have power over your life, I invite you to shift your perspective and notice how much power you actually do have. You get to decide how you show up in this world and which version of you leads the way.
We came into this life for a reason. There are experiences our souls wanted to have, lessons we signed up to learn, and a big, beautiful purpose we came here to fulfill.
When you do the inner work — the reflection, the willingness to drop out of the mind and into the heart — you reconnect to the truth of your soul. From there, you can uncover what your purposes are and align your life with them. And when you do that? It changes everything.
And here’s the thing: we don’t have just one purpose. We have many. Being a mother is one of my greatest purposes. Raising these beautiful children is a mighty purpose, because they’re going to go on to do wonderful things in the world. On top of that, I have other purposes through my healing work, my corporate wellness work, my podcast, and more.
We fulfill certain purposes along the way, and then new ones emerge. There are many things you came here to do.
And this is your moment to rise. This is your moment to decide who you get to be.
So I invite you to paint a picture of what you truly desire for your life. If you could have anything at all, what would you want?
What would make you feel fulfilled? What would light you up and bring you joy? What would make you feel successful? What would make you feel loved?
Is it a new relationship? Reigniting passion with your current partner? A new home? Traveling the world? Having a baby? A thriving career or business?
Everything we want is unique to us, and it’s perfect for us. The first step is getting clear on what you want.
Now that you know what you want, here’s the key to manifesting it:
You need to become the version of you who already has it.
You don’t get what you want. You get what you are.
Remember that inner frequency? If you tune your inner dial to the frequency of the version of you who already has the thing — the healed you, the abundant you, the deeply loved you, the successful entrepreneur you — that’s how you attract it in. The outer world must reflect the inner world.
If I want a world where I’m healed and whole, living in a beautiful home overlooking the ocean, traveling to incredible places, whatever it is — I have to become the version of me who already has that life.
So here’s the practice:
Now that you have a picture of what you want, ask yourself:
- What version of me already has this?
- How does she act?
- How does she walk into a room?
- How does she feel when she spends money?
- How does she interact with people?
- What does she say yes to? What does she say no to?
- How does she navigate life?
Now begin to be that vibration. Tune your inner frequency to that version of you, and start acting like that person now — even before your external reality catches up.
If you be that person now, your outer reality has to match it. That’s the life hack for manifesting what you desire. That’s how you reclaim your power: by changing your inner frequency to match the life you want and the version of you who’s already living it.
Then look at your belief systems. What are all the beliefs that say you can’t have what you want? We all have them.
Every limiting belief is rooted in past experiences — from this life and past lives — that are unresolved. Those beliefs are energetically tethered to unhealed wounds in your field.
You need to clear that energy.
If you need help with that, this is exactly the work I do as an Akashic healer. I help you uncover the spiritual and energetic roots of your beliefs and fears, find the true source, and clear it so it no longer needs to be part of your lived experience.
When you clear these wounds, it changes you. You feel lighter, more open. New opportunities begin to flow in, and often the shifts are instantaneous.
So: clear the wounds. Forgive yourself, forgive others, forgive the situations. And then embody that version of you who already has what you desire.
That’s it.
Step into your power. Reclaim your power over your life.
And if you falter and fall down one day? Get up. Dust yourself off. Forgive yourself. Start again tomorrow.
Every day we wake up is a blessing. Every day is an opportunity to start over. Every day is a chance to reclaim our power and step into the version of ourselves we came here to be.
And that is my invitation for you today.
