I Healed What Doctors Said Was Incurable (Ep. 1)

Nicole Mixdorf Season 1 Episode 1

In this premiere episode of HEALED with Nicole Mixdorf, I share the deeply personal story of how I healed from a debilitating autoimmune disease that doctors said was incurable. After years of chronic illness, countless flare-ups, and dead ends with Western medicine, I embarked on a journey through over 50 holistic healing modalities—receiving not one, but multiple spontaneous healing miracles. Ultimately, it was in the Akashic Records that I uncovered the true root cause of my illness and finally found lasting healing. If you're seeking hope, inspiration, or a new path on your healing journey, this episode is for you.

Welcome to the HEALED with Nicole Nixdorf podcast. I'm your host, Nicole Nixdorf, and today I'm going to be sharing with you my miraculous story of healing. It all started a couple of decades ago while I was working in the corporate world. I had a high-powered leadership role with a global firm, and I loved what I was doing. I got to travel the world. I was leading a big team. I had a lot of responsibilities. But with that also came a lot of stress. Just like I'm sure many of you can relate to feeling stressed at work, that stress was fine for a number of years. I was able to manage it pretty well until my dad got sick with cancer, and then all of a sudden, I didn't just have a lot of stress at work. Now, I had a lot of stress at home too. When all of that stress started hitting me from all sides, it eventually started making me physically sick, and I developed a horrible condition called ulcerative colitis that causes bleeding intestinal ulcers.

Oh, and let me tell you, my friends, when you don't feel good, it literally makes every single thing in your life so much harder. Now, the truth is, I didn't really know how to slow down back then, so I just did what every other busy professional does, which is to keep on going, pop a few pills, and just hope and pray that the problem will go away. And that kind of worked for about a year, until I got to a point where the health condition really degraded so much that I couldn't really lead a meeting anymore. I couldn't really do my job, and honestly, I could barely function. So, I decided to finally listen to my doctor, who'd been begging me to take some time off work, which I couldn't imagine doing at the time because I had way too many responsibilities. I think at that time I really wore the busyness like a badge of honor, honestly, and so much of my identity was wrapped up in that role that I was in, and I just couldn't see how to leave it all behind.

But a situation came up at work where one of my colleagues, his wife, passed away when this was happening and she was the same age as me, and that just rocked me to my core. And I thought, what am I doing? Am I really going to remember, in the scheme of my whole life, that I'm pushing through this pain to try to do what? So, I decided to take a few months off work and remove a big source of that stress and start focusing more on my self-care.

That's really when I took my first real deep dive into meditation and other holistic practices. I had been teaching yoga for many years prior to that, but I had never had a consistent practice until this point in my life. And when I finally did shift the way that I was feeling internally in terms of my stress levels, the most amazing thing happened. All of the symptoms I was dealing with just disappeared, and that was a huge wake up call to me. It made me realize, wow, you could have the healthy lifestyle of proper nutrition and fitness, but in the face of chronic stress, it's like none of the rest even mattered. And I knew my story wasn't unique because all of my colleagues and all of my corporate clients were suffering too. It was the same story everywhere I went. Everyone was stressed, everyone was overworked, everyone was overwhelmed, and they were largely suffering from these stress related conditions in silence. Whether it was digestive issues, migraines, insomnia, anxiety, depression, weight gain, you name it. And I thought, wow, there is a stress epidemic happening in this country and around the world. And I was inspired to do something about it. So, I wound up leaving my corporate career behind in 2012, and I launched Balanced by Nature, which is my award-winning corporate wellness company. And the whole mission of that business is to inspire other busy professionals to learn how to create sustainable balance in their lives so they can heal and thrive. And I've been doing that now for about 12.5 years. And I really loved it. It fueled me in a beautiful way. But I wish I could tell you that my health issues ended at that moment in my life. But that's not the case.

That was largely the beginning of my journey to heal my body, because every single time I went through a major stressful experience in my life, this horrible condition would flare back up on me again, where my stomach would turn inside out. I would literally be rushing to the bathroom 15 to 20 times a day, bleeding heavily every single day, feeling depleted, and becoming anemic as a result. I mean, it's so awful. I really leaned into Western medicine for the first several years. I would take medication, and that seemed to resolve the issue for me. So, every time I would have a flare up of this condition, I'd take the medicine, it would calm down, and I would carry on in my life. And that was kind of the pattern that I was in for a long time.

And then I went through a period of a lot of losses in a very short period of time. I wound up losing my daddy after a seven-year battle with cancer. Shortly thereafter I lost my grandfather, then my grandmother. I lost a cousin, and in that period of time I was also starting a family. And I have two beautiful children now, but I lost three pregnancies along that journey as well. And my oldest, my son, I had pregnancy complications with him, and he wound up having to come out early and he was a preemie. And it was one week into his stay at the NICU that I found out that my dad only had three months left to live. So, I've been through a lot of hardship and pain and loss, and after every one of those losses, it was accompanied with another horrible flare up of this ulcerative colitis. I just didn't understand it. I put two and two together that it was connected to stress for sure, stress hormones. But then it was also connected to pregnancy hormones because after every single one of those pregnancies or miscarriages, I had another flare up too. So, it just seemed like hormones and flare ups. That was kind of the pattern that I picked up on.

But when my daughter was born, I wound up having a flare up that was so bad that it would not respond to any medication at all. And I went to see all of the top specialists, and nobody had any answers for me. All they could tell me was that it was an “autoimmune” disease, which means that my body is attacking itself for some reason that nobody understands. And that as far as they're concerned, it's incurable. And I'm pretty much going to have to live with this for the rest of my life. And I thought, no way. That's not going to be my story.

You see, I was sure that there's a reason why my body was behaving the way it was. There had to be a reason why my body was out of whack, and I wanted to get to the bottom of it. I was sure that there was going to be a way that I could heal from this, and not have to suffer through it for the rest of my life, the way that my dad did before he got cancer, because this was an illness that plagued him too.

I run a wellness company. I'm surrounded with healers and I thought, nope, I'm gonna heal myself. So, I told the doctor, I'm going to heal myself. You watch me. And I marched out of that office and embarked on this amazing journey to heal myself naturally. And that journey took me to working with over 50 different healing modalities and working with some really incredible, powerful healers. And I received multiple healing miracles along that journey. And I define a healing miracle as spontaneous overnight healing that has no other explanation.

Now, as I started doing that journey, you know, I was really blessed that growing up, my dad's brother, my Uncle Dov, was a naturopath. So, I was always exposed to holistic healing throughout my whole life. I could call him and he would help me. So certainly, I leaned into his guidance and his advice, and he was helping me. I was working with nutritionists. I wound up working with several different acupuncturists. I also wound up working with an amazing Ayurvedic doctor, and she really introduced me to a number of the really powerful healers that I worked with on my journey. I worked with Reiki masters, I worked with light healers, I did hyperbaric therapy, I did infrared therapy. I worked with a medical intuitive doctor. I worked with a light healer. I wound up working with an amazing Chinese Divine healing master. I received one of the healing miracles from her and wow, that is an incredible story. This woman. Can I just tell you? She has abilities beyond the scope of what we can understand is even possible. I literally watched this woman break the laws of physics in front of my face, and she healed me overnight! It was amazing and I cannot wait to share that story with you in a future episode. But I also worked with resonance repatterning practitioners. I received another healing miracle from her at one point along the way. Sai Shakti healing is another I've done. Oh my gosh, so many healing modalities. I've done sound healing; I've done somatic therapies. I've done EFT tapping, qigong, yoga and yoga therapy, breathwork, you name it. My friends, I've even done Amazonian tree frog medicine, and actually that was a healing miracle too! So, all of those miracles are going to be their own episodes because it's just incredible, incredible what is possible and what I really learned on that journey is that there are so many different ways to heal the body.

And it made me really sad to think about my privilege. The fact that I have this huge network of healers that I could tap into when most people don't even know that these modalities even exist. So, I had the education, I had access to these practitioners. I had the money to be able to afford it at the time. And let me tell you, I spent a small fortune trying to heal myself. And thank God I had the money to do that. But so many people don't. And so, I just really feel passionate about wanting to introduce people to these healing modalities so that you can see what's possible, what's out there, and maybe guide you in a way that is going to lead you to your answers, so that you don't have to spend the crazy amounts of money that I did to try to heal yourself. Because it's not fair that these types of healing modalities aren't covered by insurance, and that most people don't have access to it. But I had privilege, and I'm dedicating my life now to healing other people and helping the world find new ways to heal themselves. And so being able to share these stories with you and expand what you believe is possible is really what I want to do. Because this journey to heal myself changed me, my friends, it changed me. I have seen things that completely broke apart what I really believed was possible in this world, and the more open that I was to have these experiences, to believe that more was possible than I could understand, the more magic started flowing into my life.

And let me tell you, I was sick as I was going through this journey. I mean, it took me three years to really get to my major healing miracle that I had to calm the symptoms down that I was dealing with at the time. I had a beautiful newborn baby that I was having to take care of. As I was getting so, so sick I could barely function. I could hardly leave the house. I mean, it's like the worst thing in the world to try to go somewhere, and you just always have to scope out where the closest bathroom is, because when the urge would come, I would literally have two seconds to get there and that's it. I had to drive around with a potty in the back of my car. I mean, it's ridiculous. And sometimes I think back to those times and I'm like, dang. How the heck did I get through all that? And with a smile on my face, no doubt. And I did, because I had the best possible mindset through all of the hardship that I went through. And I got down to 105lbs at one point. I was forced to stop nursing my baby because it was too depleting on my body. But I never let any of it stop me from doing what I wanted to do, because I never allowed the illness to define me. I never allowed the illness to rob me of my joy. And that was a choice that I made. And that's the mindset piece. And I'm going to share so much more about that in future episodes with you as well, because it's so potent, the way that we see the world and the attitude that we bring to it is everything. It's everything. And when you have a big purpose that you're connected to, man, it just it just pulls you in like a magnet and you just feel like you're doing exactly what you're meant to be doing. You see, I knew I was going to heal myself, right? I knew it when I went to see that Chinese divine healing master. I had been bleeding for 547 days in a row. Let that sink in… But overnight, it was like poof, gone. I mean, amazing. She literally gave me my life back. And I will be forever grateful to this incredible woman for that miracle that I received that day. And I honestly thought that I was done with it. At that point, I thought, this is it. Like it's never coming back again. But that's not the way it worked out.

A few years later, I wound up getting Covid. And as soon as I got sick with that, within five days, it reactivated the colitis. And I was devastated because I truly thought I was done with that illness forever. And here it was, rearing its ugly head again. And I went back to work with a lot of the same healers that I had worked with previously. And it didn't work. I was sick that time. For an entire year, searching for my answers. Until I finally one day got on my knees. And I prayed to God. I said, “God, show me how to heal my body and I promise I will help everybody else heal too”. I made a vow, and immediately I went into this deep meditation and I had this incredible vision of doing a Kambo ceremony, which really shocked me because I didn't really know anything about it. It's Amazonian tree frog medicine, my friends. I leaned into it and I will tell you that story later, but it absolutely healed me again. But even after that, I never really understood what is it about this pattern? Why do I have this pattern showing up in my life? Why does it keep coming back even after receiving amazing healing miracles along the way? Which to even have that happen once would be incredible for your whole life. But I had already had three instances of literally spontaneous overnight healing. Why would it keep coming back?

I finally found my answers in the Akashic Records. My dear teacher and friend, she introduced me and attuned me into the Akashic Records. And in the very first healing session that I did, we uncovered the actual root cause of the illness. It was like the missing puzzle piece that finally, finally allowed me to truly heal my body. And as soon as I was able to release all of those energetic connections, I knew it was done, that it was over. The pattern was finished. It never had to come back again. I was truly healed. And I am so excited, my friends, to be able to share more of my journey and dive into each one of those experiences with you, and talk to you about all these different holistic healing modalities that I've tried.

I'm going to be interviewing some of these amazing healers. I will be sharing some of my own stories of miraculous healing. I'll be bringing in some other guests to share their stories of healing as well. But my intention is really to connect you with all of these new resources and all of these new paths so that you have a new direction, something new to try. Because I'd want you to never, ever limit yourself and never allow someone else, especially a doctor, to put their limitations on you because only you know what is possible for you. And I am here to tell you that healing is our birthright. Our bodies are self-healing. We get a cut and it bleeds. We put a Band-Aid, and it just naturally heals itself. It grows a scab. The skin heals. Our bodies are constantly healing and regenerating themselves. They're never attacking us. The medical community hasn't caught up yet. We need them. Believe me, we do. There are times that you absolutely need your medications. You need to have your surgeries. You need to see your doctor. I'm all for it. So, I want you to understand that I'm not shunning Western medicine at all. I am embracing it, but also wanting to shine a beautiful light on all of these other modalities that have been around for far longer, hundreds of years, thousands of years. People have been healing their bodies, and it's through this beautiful integration of all of these practices that's really going to allow you to find the healing that you deserve.
